The Congress overthrew, on Tuesday (17), the veto on taxation of investment funds in the productive chains of agribusiness (strokes), real estate investment funds (FIIs) and property funds. With the decision, these funds will be free from the incidence of the Tax on Goods and Services (IBS) and the Social Contribution on Goods and Services (CBS). The overthrow occurred in a joint session between the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate and was led by parliamentarians linked to agribusiness.

The veto is part of the 1st Tax Reform Regulation Project, PLP 68/2024. The president vetoed the excerpt that exempted the FIIs, the strokes and the equity funds of the new taxes that will come into force with the reform. The government had argued that the exclusion of funds in taxation was unconstitutional.
