Boconist Gustavo Gayer (-GO) proposed a bill to ban the hiring of influencers, artists, athletes and personalities, with public money, in advertisements of governments and public agencies.
Gayer, who was elected deputy in 2022 just after viralizing as a pocketser Youtuber, argues that the image of an influencer “cannot be transformed into an instrument of political propaganda at the expense of the treasury.”
“It is, in many cases, of institutional campaign-traded political marketing, which aims to generate popularity to public agents, creating improper advantages and potential imbalance in the democratic process, especially in pre-election periods,” he wrote in the justification of the project.
In the text, the deputy also stated that, in recent years, governments of “all spheres”, without citing names, resorted to the popularity of influencers to promote institutional actions using millionaire funds.
