A part of the entourage of 12 Brazilian politicians who were in Israel should land in Brazilian territory on Wednesday (17). Mayors and secretaries traveled to the country at the invitation of the Isarelense government and saw each other in the midst of tensions in the region after the conflict began with Iran last Thursday (12).
All authorities were escorted by Israeli forces to the Jordan border. From there they moved to Saudi Arabia.
Nine people from the group embarked on a private plane that left the Saudi Tabuk city. The first stop, for supply, was on the Spanish island Palma de Mallorca. The plane went to Salda do Sal, in Cape Verde, to overnight. In the morning, he goes to João Pessoa (PB), the final destination.
Among the politicians who make up the entourage are the mayor of João Pessoa (PB), Cicero Lucena, and the mayor of Belo Horizonte (MG), Álvaro Damião.
The other three people, from 12, departed from Saudi Arabia to Doha, Qatar, and will try commercial flights towards Brazil.
According to Itamaraty, 27 other Brazilian authorities still remain in Israel, bunkers and shelters, and should leave the country in the coming days.
In a statement released on Tuesday (17), the Senate Foreign Relations Commission (CRE) stated that it is following the preparations for, scheduled for this Wednesday (18), by land, with subsequent boarding on commercial flights.
The group is made up of official missions participants who were organized and funded by the Israeli government at the invitation of the country.
According to CRE, among the members are three representatives of Mato Grosso do Sul: Ricardo Senna, executive secretary of science, technology and innovation of the state; Christinne Maymone, Deputy Secretary of Health; and Marcos Espíndola, Information Technology Coordinator of the Health Secretariat.
“The operation will be conducted with the support of the Brazilian embassies in the Middle East. For safety reasons, logistics details and schedules were not disclosed,” the statement says.
Itamaraty only confirms the departure of Brazilians when there is the passage to the territory of Jordan, due to the risk assessment that is made by Israeli authorities.
DF government entourage follows in Israel
Israel, amid conflict with Iran and should also return to Brazil in the coming days. They are: Thiago Costa (Public Security); Marco Antônio Costa (Science, Technology and Innovation); Rafael Bueno (agriculture and supply); and Ana Paula Marra (Social Development).
District Deputy João Cardoso (Avante-DF) also integrates the entourage. The authorities traveled to the country to seek negotiations with the Israeli government.
Last Friday (13), the Deputy Governor of the DF, Celina Leão, requested support from the federal government to enable the safe return of district servants participating in an official mission.
Deputy João Cardoso told CNN that the passages that will make around the Brazilian territory viable are already being provided, but there is a lot of demand. He said he is well and housed in a bunker hotel, where he moves when Sirenes warns danger of interception and explosions.
The parliamentarian is president of the Catholic Parliamentary Front of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (CLDF) and was Israel by an invitation from the Domus Galilaeae International Evangelization Center to know the beginnings of Christianity.
Itamaraty says trip to Israel has been “advised” since 2023
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) published a note on Monday (16) to update the situation of Brazilians in Israel. According to the folder, “non -essential” trips to the Middle East country have been advised against since 2023.
“The Brazilian Embassy in Israel has been maintaining, since October 2023, a consular warning that advises every non -essential trip to that country and has since recommends that Brazilians who were in Israel considered to leave the country,” said Itamaraty.
Itamaraty also pointed out that “criminals for application messages” are offering places on flights to leave Israel and alert to Brazilians that the country’s airspace is still closed, with no forecast for reopening.
