“Ugh, slug,” we can hear every summer from many gardens. In some years, so that we are afraid to go in front of the house so that we do not have to skip at every step of the next and another crawling uninvited guest. But it is absolutely unnecessary, because we can get rid of them with ballerinas ease.
Slugs and Plzáci are a nightmare of every gardeners. In a single night, they can dispose of fresh seedlings, bite leaves of vegetables and leave only disgusting slimy traces of destruction. In the fight against them, various chemical products and modern traps have appeared, but often with very contradictory results, or at risk for pets and the environment. There is an old proven trick. It is brilliant in its simplicity, effect and environmental friendliness. All we need is a grapefruit bark.

The magic of grapefruit
Why can this work? The magic of grapefruit attraction lies in its intoxicating aroma, as well as moisture, which, according to slugs, cannot be resisted. Citrus generally contains substances that attract them intensively. In addition, they provide them with a tempting cool and damp hiding place, which in their opinion can protect them from strong sunlight. As soon as Grapefruit feels, they will start to crawl from all directions, just to have at least the last ticket left. And that’s exactly the gardener’s hour. Once the peel full of slimy bodies is hollowed out, we can easily report them from the plot.
You can prepare the trap easily
Grapefruit trap is prepared very easily (moreover tasty and healthy at the same time). It will be enough to cut the grapefruit into two halves, remove the flesh and leave only the bark bowls. Do not try to get the last piece of the edible part, at least a small part leave inside as a bait for slugs. So prepared “houses then place the hollows down the garden.
What are they with them?
You were probably successful and you have a full glass of slugs. Congratulations – but what about them? Of course, the best and most gentle method is their “relocation” to the wild, away from the inhabited territory (rather not to the neighbor’s land). Of course, they can also be killed, but in this case everything should be done according to the rules of the least suffering for any creature. Although they are a disaster for our crop, they are still living bodies.
The peels work repeatedly
We can throw the grapefruit peel at this stage (rather not for compost, there is not too much citrus residues), or we can use it at least once again. Probably the next night is doing the same good job. Just keep it in a microtene bag during the day to maintain as much moisture as possible.
