After leaving the Israeli territory in the midst of the tensions climbing, the governor of Rondônia, (União Brasil), released a message of thanks to the Brazilian and Israeli authorities for their support during the official mission. The group, made up of members of the Central Brazil Governors Consortium, is now in Jordan, safely, awaiting accommodation on commercial flights to Brazil. “We left Israel and we are already in Jordan safely, with the entire team of the Central Brazil Governors Consortium,” said the governor on his social networks on Wednesday (18).

Marcos Rocha made a point of highlighting the commitment of the Brazilian Ambassador in Jordan, Márcio Fagundes do Nascimento, for the “firm and attentive support” to the Brazilian entourage. He also thanked the Brazilian Embassy in Israel, in the person of Minister Counselor Fábio Faria, for the constant support since the beginning of the mission. The governor also reinforced his gratitude to the Israeli government and the Israeli ambassador in Brasilia, Daniel Zonshine, “for the attention, welcome and cooperation at this time.”

Commitment to the population of Rondônia

Even in the face of adverse circumstances, Marcos Rocha reaffirmed his commitment to the citizens of Rondônia and highlighted the role of diplomacy as a tool for building bridges between nations. “We are still firm in the mission of representing our people, certain that diplomacy, dialogue and cooperation build solid bridges between nations. May God continue to protect us and lead each step,” concluded the governor.

Mission context

The group of state and municipal authorities was part of an official delegation invited by Israel to a series of institutional agendas. With the aggravation of the armed conflict in the region, the withdrawal operation was coordinated by the Brazilian embassies and the Israeli government. The Central Brazil Consortium is made up of states in the Midwest region, as well as Rondônia, Tocantins and Maranhão, focusing on regional development policies.
