Iranian state television on Wednesday aired the first public legacy of the spiritual leader of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei from the beginning of the Israeli attacks from 13 June. Unlike the previous speech, however, Chamenei did not perform personally this time – his statement was read by the moderator, while Ajatollah’s portrait was in the background. The reason for the absence of direct speech is unknown, TASR reports according to AFP.
In a statement, Khamenei stressed that the Iranian nation will never “give” to foreign pressure, rejecting the demand of US President Donald Trump for unconditional surrender. The United States of Chamenei addressed a warning that their participation in attacks against Iran could cause them “irreparable damage”.
Answer to Trump’s statements
According to al-Jazeera, Ajatollah also responded to the words of US President Donald Trump and recalled that “those who know Iran and his history know that the Iranians do not respond well to the language of threats”.
According to him, Iran “definitely rejects” any “inventory war” and “forced peace”.
As several agencies recalled, Chamenei – the highest leader of Iran since 1989 – has a decisive word on most state affairs, and from the first television speech 13 June he has not publicly commented on the development of the situation.
Iran warns of war
A spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Esmál Bakáji also spoke in a similar vein to Chamenei. In an interview with al-Jazeera television, he warned that “any American intervention would be a recipe for a total war in the region”.
This reservation was not further distributed, but AP recalled that thousands of US soldiers are deployed in areas within the reach of Iranian missiles. In the meantime, the United States has already threatened any “massive response” to any attack.
Donald Trump called on Tuesday Iran for unconditional surrender. He said the US knows where Chamenei is hiding, but “at least” will not be liquidated yet. At the same time, Trump pointed out that the US is running out of patience. He added that the US did not want “rockets to fall on civilians or American soldiers”.
