Israel Katz accuses the Islamic Republic of funding and arming groups such as Hezbollah and the Houthis, and criticizes the United Nations Security Council ‘passivity’
Israel’s Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs released a letter addressed to the country’s military actions against Iran. In the document, Katz highlights the “continuous and direct threat” that Iran represents for Israel’s safety and the stability of the Middle East. He accuses the Islamic Republic of funding and arming groups such as O Lebanon, and Os in Yemen, as well as being involved in hostile actions against the Israelis.
The minister argues that Israel’s actions are a form of self -defense, as guaranteed by the United Nations Charter, in response to the deliberate war acts of the Iranian regime. In the letter, Katz also criticizes the passivity of the Security Council, which, according to him, strengthens what he called the “axis of evil”, including Tehran and Damascus.
The minister asks the UN to recognize Iran as a destabilizing actor and impose immediate sanctions on the country. In addition, he requests an emergency session to discuss Iranian actions, citing recent threats from Tehran to retaliate any logistic support from Arab countries to the United States.
