Party states that former president, convicted of diversion of public funds, is the subject of “political persecution”
The PT (Workers Party) has announced that it will send the federal deputy (PT-RS) to the demonstration in favor of former Argentine president Cristina Kirchner (justicialist party, left), scheduled for this Wednesday (18.jun.2025) in Buenos Aires.
In, the party stated that Kirchner, sentenced to 6 years in prison for diversion of public money, is “victim of political-judicial persecution”.
The former minister of the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Government of the President (PT) will represent the party’s national direction in the act that will be held in the center of the Argentine capital.
“The PT does not forget what the demonstrations of our Argentine companions and companions, including former President Cristina Kirchner, when President Lula was chased by Operation Lava Jato in Brazil. We are sympathetic to her, when they once again want to take a great popular leadership out of political life, just as they did with Perón in their time and Lula more recently. According to information from the PT, the act of support for Kirchner was summoned to 10am this Wednesday (18.jun), with concentration on the corner of San Juan Avenue and Rua San José, in the Constación neighborhood, where the former president lives. The march will travel through the city center streets and avenues and should extend to the late afternoon.
Kirchner in house arrest
The 2nd Oral Federal Court of Argentina ordered on Tuesday (17.Jun) that the former president fulfills her under house arrest. In practice, Kirchner is already arrested, as the order was given while she was in her in the capital Buenos Aires.
The former president will have to wear an electronic anklet and an electronic surveillance device will be installed in the apartment. According to the Argentine newspaper Kirchner must comply with 3 rules for the benefit of house arrest to be maintained:
- stay at the designated address, with exceptions to be justified;
- Do not adopt behaviors that disturb the tranquility of the neighborhood;
- Present, within 48 hours, a list of family members, doctors and lawyers who can visit it.
Prosecutors said it was necessary “establish serious and concrete guidelines to ensure effective monitoring of the execution of the penalty and security“From Kirchner.
After the announcement of house arrest, Juan Grabois-the former president-confirmed the realization of the demonstration scheduled for Wednesday (18.jun).
“The action of solidarity with Cristina and in defense of the political, economic, social and cultural rights of Argentines was not suspended for any cause, say what the newspapers, the judiciary, the police, the bombers or the leaders are said.”Said Grabois.
Condemnation of former Argentine President
Argentina’s Supreme Court of Justice on June 10 the arrest of the former president after unanimously rejecting an appeal against his conviction to 6 years in prison for embezzlement of public money.
