Arriving with both feet at the door, he made his debut at Nintendo Switch 2 in parallel to the arrival of this new console. This feat draws attention to the capacity of the new hybrid, raising several questions about the performance of the game and what really expects from this new platform.

Although the title has been available since 2020, its history was somewhat turbulent to run on the consoles for which it was announced. Since then, a lot has changed – including the arrival of DLC, which now makes up this full version. I imagine the support will continue for some time. Still, not even in our more futuristic daydreams we imagined Cyberpunk 2077 running on a Nintendo hybrid console. But here we are. Now it remains to be seen if Switch 2 takes care of the message.

The unlikely became portable

Switch 2 gets the game with all improvements since its original release and goes beyond, bringing techniques to adapt to the new home, keeping visuals beautiful, fluidity and new ways of playing. The good thing is that, right away, we have a huge game to explore with the new video game. But, of course, there are caveats.

When it was released in 2020, the game suffered a lot with performance. Honestly, I didn’t even install it on my PS4. I opted for the PC version, but my setup was already somewhat Jurassic, and I could only play with the settings at least. – Which discouraged me to the point of giving up.

Years later, I resumed my journey on PS5. Now yes, with a playable version, I could finally see all the beauty of that city full of lights and still surprise me with DualSense. With these experiences in the luggage, when I received the Switch 2 version, I tried to keep my feet on the ground: “Maybe it will be something similar to old versions, but I can play wherever you want, so it’s okay.”

The first hours of the game worked perfectly on any console. The closed environment facilitates good performance. For me, the thing only started when I finally got the car and was free to explore the city. This was my starting point for this analysis and was gaping. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Switch 2 is very beautiful and with good performance. Which is really amazing.

The game is fluid both on foot and driving, even during the shootings with the tiger claws. Gambling has no choking or crashes that harm the experience. Nevertheless, the game does not run at 60 FPS and its resolutions are not native, as it uses upscalling with DLSS technology. Still, it is worth reinforcing: it remains stable and is very beautiful, both on TV and in portable mode.

A new way to meet V and Johnny Silverhand

Don’t want to bring a direct comparison with a top -of -the -line PC PC, PS5 or Xbox Series, but if you do it, know that although it is not the same in terms of performance, this version is very capable. Surprised by technical work and keep everything in other devices.

The story, the DLC, the vibrant streets, crazy NPCs with their secondary missions… Anyway, an entire night city that fits in the backpack. This is already a huge achievement. But don’t stop there: in portable mode, for example, you can navigate the menus with the touch screen. It may seem silly, but soon it becomes intuitive and helps a lot in the face of the many screens that RPG offers.

Choosing your way of shooting

On TV, in addition to traditional commands, there are different ways to experience cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. One of the news is the use of Joy-Cons 2 gyroscope, which allows it to aim at enemies and make a series of movements: dodge, recharge, healing, melee combat and even use of katanas. The game is extremely fun in this mode.

You can also use Joy-Con right as a mouse. No exaggeration: The answer is quick and intuitive, even with the control supported on the leg. The only caveat is ergonomics that can be uncomfortable over time. I hope the brackets that circulate on the internet will solve this issue, because this way of playing helps a lot in the shootings.

New functions may even look like a momentary fever, as if you try once and then return to the standard. I thought like that myself. But after I activated, I couldn’t let go anymore. It works! It’s nice to use, help in the target and respond too fast. It is difficult to ignore. Surely it will please both PC and console fans and already create expectations for other games that can use all these commands well.

One detail: Cyberpunk 2077 shipments: Ultimate Edition are very fast. On the other hand, I leave a warning: If you are going to throw away from home, take the charger. The battery life is disappointed. In my play, the Nintendo Switch 2 lasted about 2 hours before it needs to recharge.

Fewer people on the street for a good reason

With such violence, people avoid going out on the streets, right? This could be a justification for seeing fewer people circulating by Night City in the Switch version 2. But the truth is that this is a technical choice. To maintain fluidity and performance, CD Projekt Red has reduced the number of NPCs, some textures, as well as lighting effects and reflexes. Still, occasional drops occur, especially in Dogtown, which must be corrected with updates in the future.

The result pays off: the intelligent use of upscaling preserves the aesthetics of the game, maintains a pleasant frame rate and does not break immersion, so the lack of people is not a problem. The news renews the gambling and makes this version solid, both for those who have played and for those who will venture for the first time.

In the end, it is amazing to see how CD Projekt Red has managed to bring a game of this magnitude to the Nintendo system. It has its costs, but it works extremely well, showing affection and legitimate effort for this version. Now it is up to the player to define his priorities to choose where to play. By the way, Cyberpunk 2077 has cross-save, so you can interspersing your advances between the platforms in which you have the title.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is almost a symbol of technological evolution. It is admirable to see how the game has persisted over the years, becoming getting better and better. And today, on Switch 2, the general experience is cohesive, pleasant and surprisingly beautiful and so can impress, not because it is perfect, but because it is possible. And working that well is already a huge done.
