The Court of Justice of São Paulo rejected on Wednesday (18) appeal against a decision of the first instance that acquitted two military police officers of the route involved in a death in the context of Operation Shield in 2024.

The TJ dismissed the oral argument of the defense of the police, which would be made by their lawyer, former secretary of justice Fernando José da Costa. The MP’s appeal was rejected by the three judges of the 11th Criminal Chamber of the Court.
Operation Shield was one of the largest and most controversial actions of the Tarcísio de Freitas government in the security area, with the displacement of police to the after a PM was killed.
Human rights entities pointed to evidence of suspects’ execution, while police claim that all deaths resulted from confrontations.
