Wealth grew disproportionately rapidly last year in the United States, where more than 379,000 people became new millionaires in dollars, more than 1,000 a day, according to a report published on Wednesday.

Native equity of individuals increased 4.6% worldwide, driven by a stable dollar and positive financial markets, according to the UBS global wealth report. The United States accounted for almost 40% of global millionaires by 2024.

In 2023, Europe, the Middle East and Africa led a recovery of global wealth after decline in 2022.

Greater China – which the report has defined as mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan – led last year in individuals with a $ 100,000 to $ 1 million equity, representing 28.2%, followed by western Europe with 25.4%and North America with 20.9%.

However, most people worldwide were below this limit, with more than 80% of UBS sample adults having a net equity of less than $ 100,000. Overall, about 1.6% registered net equity of $ 1 million or more, according to the report.

Over the next five years, the Swiss bank projects that average adult wealth will grow even more, led by the United States and, to a lesser extent, by Greater China.
