Official Creation of the Collegiate awaits the publication of the application in the “National Congress Diary”, a bureaucratic process that should be held on the coming day

The president of the National Congress, Senator (Union-AP), announced the official reading of the request for the creation of a Mixed Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (CPMI) designed to investigate fraud and deviations in Social Security. This formal act represents a significant step in the process, indicating that CPMI is, in fact, to be established. However, the official creation of the Board awaits the publication of the application in the “National Congress Diary”, a bureaucratic process that should be held in the coming days.

With the publication, Alcolumbre will begin the period when party leaders may appoint representatives to join the Inquiry Commission. PSD leader in the Senate, Omar Aziz (AM), appears as one of the main names for the presidency of CPMI, who will devote himself to investigating a fraud scheme involving pensions and retirement of INSS insured. Sources heard by this column reveal that the deputy opposition leader, Deputy Evair de Melo (PP-ES), is also considered to assume the rapporteur, with the support of the opposition leader, Deputy Colonel Zucco (PL-RS). Evair, who has already chaired the House of Representatives Agriculture Commission, stood out in recent days for his firm posture in relation to the entities investigated by the Federal Police on the INSS issue.

One of CPMI’s main advocates, Senator Damares Alves (Republicans-DF), revealed in an interview with Senate TV, that the committee’s work should only be effectively started after the parliamentary recess, which will take place between 18 and 31 July. “It doesn’t make up for us to start before the recess,” said former Bolsonaro government minister. “If we start before the recess, (on July 17) we stop (CPMI’s work), but the deadline does not stop. The deadline continues. We will lose deadline at CPMI. We will lose days in recess,” added Damares.
