Real Madrid French striker Kylian Mbappé, who could not debut for Real Madrid at the Club World Cup on Wednesday (18)-a 1-1 draw with Saudi Al Hilal-was hospitalized to perform medical examinations due to gastroenteritis, announced on Thursday (19) the club.
“Our player Kylian Mbappé has an acute gastroenteritis picture and has been hospitalized to perform different exams and apply the corresponding treatment,” Real Madrid said in a brief statement.
Mbappé had been suffering for several days from a feverish process that prevented him from playing on Wednesday at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
The French star did not train on Tuesday (17), in the last session directed by coach Xabi Alonso, for the same reason, although he worked with the rest of the cast on the previous two days.
“In the last two days he has been bad, with an important viral process. We have to see how it is improving day by day,” Alonso said at the news conference after the confrontation against Al Hilal.
Real Madrid will face Mexico’s Pachuca on Sunday (22) in Charlotte, in the second game of group H of the Club Cup.
Asked if the Frenchman would be available for this second duel, Alonso stated: “We do not know, we have to see how its recovery develops.”
