Final phase of Portuguese repatriation in Israel

The final phase of the Portuguese repatriation operation of Israel is underway. The TAP flight should arrive at Figo Maduro around 18:30. Already this Wednesday, 37 Portuguese who had been retained in Jordan since the beginning of the conflict between Iran and Israel arrived in Lisbon.

The final phase of the repatriation of Portuguese citizens in Israel is taking place this morning, following the conflict with Iran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

“The final phase of the operation triggered and coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, of repatriation of Portuguese from Israel,” said the ministry, in a statement, indicating that the TAP flight should reach the Figo Maduro Aerodrome, in the Lisbon airport area, around 18:30.

The Secretary of State for Communities, Emídio Sousa will be present at the site.

The Portuguese government announced this week the temporary closure of the Embassy in Teerão, along with the continuation of repatriation operations in the Middle East.

The war between Israel and Iran was triggered at dawn on June 13 by Against Iranian military and nuclear facilities, killing military leaders, scientists and civilians.

More than 400 citizens from the European Union, from countries such as Slovakia, Lithuania, Greece and Poland, were taken from Israel following the closing of Israeli airspace due to tensions in the region, on flights supported by the European Commission.
