Juventus debuted at the Club World Cup on Wednesday (18) with the second largest rout of the competition so far. At Audi Field Stadium in Washington, the capital of the United States, the Italian team did not give the lowest chance for Al Ain, the United Arab Emirates, and won 5-0.
The elastic result is an important step for the team to take the lead of group G, whereby Manchester City earlier, also debuted with Vitória 2-0 over Wydad Casablanca from Morocco.
Only Bayern Munich, with the sound 10-0 over Auckland City’s amateur team, shook the net more often than Turin’s team in the first round of the competition. The German team leads group C.
Four of Juventus’s five goals came out in the first half, scored by Kolo Muani, twice, on 11 minutes and 48, Francisco Conceição, at 21, and Kenan Yildiz, at 31. After the break, at 13, Francisco Conceição scored again and closed the bill.
In the next round, the Italian team faces Wydad Casablanca, on Sunday (22), at 13h (Brasília).
Earlier, also on Wednesday, a Juventus delegation, including players Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah, who play the US National Team, visited President Donald Trump at the White House at a meeting scheduled for a republican skirt.
Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, and John Elkann, president of Stellantis and Exor executive director, the Holding controlled by the Agnelli family, which holds majority participation in Juventus, also visited the head of state and presented him with shirts with his name on his back.
During the meeting, the players were in the background in the Oval Hall, behind Trump, while the Republican responded to questions from journalists about the conflict between Iran and Israel.
“I don’t want to get involved, but I’ve been talking about 20 years ago that Iran can’t have a nuclear weapon. I say that for years and I believe they stayed a few weeks ago to have one. They had to signed the deal. I think they would like to have signed now. It’s very simple: they can’t have a nuclear weapon. It’s a lot of devastation and they would use it.
At one point, Trump, who in February signed an executive order prohibiting transgender participants from disputing women’s sports, asked the players and the Juventus technical committee about their opinions on the subject.
“Could a woman get into your team, boys?” Asked the politician. The athletes just smiled and gave no answers.
Juventus General Manager Damien Trilli, was the one who tried to answer. “We have a very good female team,” he said.
