While European clubs are disappointed in, it was the opposite. On the night of Wednesday (18), at Audi Field, Washington, the Italian team debuted with a 5-0 rout over Al-Ain of the United Arab Emirates, and took the lead of Group G. It appears second, after victory over Wydad Casablanca.0
Commanded by Igor Tudor, Juventus was easy to impose on the fragile opposing marking. The team explored well on the sides of the field and had the talent of the offensive trio. Francisco Conceição and scored two goals each; Yildiz did the other. Despite the elastic score, Juventus’s defensive sector showed failures. The team resorted to absences to contain some counterattacks and had the lack of aim to leave the field without being leaked.
The construction of the score started on the right. After a good exchange of passes between Thuram and Conceição, Alberto Costa crossed in the area and Kolo Muani climbed to mark head. The second goal came after an individual move by Conceição, who received after coast ball, dribbled two markers and finished accurately. The left side also worked. Cambiaso joined, triggered Thuram, who played for Yildiz. The shirt 10 dominated and, from outside the area, hit a beautiful kick at the angle: 3 to 0.
Al-Ain tried to react and even took danger, but without effectiveness. Vladimir Ivic’s team explored counterattacks, but failed to mark and definition. In one of these counterattacks, Juventus arrived at the fourth goal: Thuram released Kolo Muani, who hit the trivela and expanded.
Early in the second half, Al-Ain swayed the nets after goalkeeper Di Gregorio rebound, but the goal was annulled by impediment. It was up to Francisco Conceição, again in individual play, resume control and score the fifth goal. In the final stretch, the Croatian promoted changes and Juve decreased the rhythm, while Al-Ain could not enjoy the spaces.
In the next round, Manchester City faces Al-Ain on Saturday (22), at 10 pm GMT, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and must have an easy life. Juventus will have more challenging confrontation against Wydad Casablanca, on the same day, at 13h, at Lincoln Financial Field, in Philadelphia.
