Avoiding water until midnight, placing wreaths or jumping through, one of the traditions that most of us know well. They are an underestimated part of this holiday falling on June 21, but not the only one. During the night Kupała, depending on the specific region, many more rituals were made. Interesting of them speaks of the need for women to put their hair in a special way.
Kupała’s night was a joyful holiday, accompanied by numerous ritualsdirected, among others to people looking for the other half. One of the most interesting rituals was the release of wreaths into the water (in some regions they were thrown into the fire), mainly girls did it. Flowers played an important role during this event, but the heads of women did not decorate only wreaths.
Festive hairstyles were also very popularwhich were to help attract love, they were connected by several elements. Most often, girls coated ears – formerly most women had long hair. However, if you have shorter hair, then you don’t have to worry, you can make a Frenchman, any other hairpin that slowly collect your hair so that you can not pour the flowers in. Slavs from some regions, wanting to help themselves in finding love, except for releasing the wreaths, ears were braided and placed summer dirt flowers in them. These were mainly poppies, whose red color was to symbolize passion and white ruddy, which were to bring a new beginning. In addition, the hair was tied up with a red ribbon, it was often eager, preferably eight timesbecause it was believed that it could bring happiness. Of course, it is worth approaching folk superstitions with a grain of salt – they never give a guarantee, but they are undoubtedly interesting.
