A couple without heirs, discreet and dear to friends. Entrepreneurs José Eduardo ometto Pavan69, e Rosana Ferrari61, were shot dead at the couple’s place in São Pedro, in the interior of São Paulo. Police arrested the suspects of enforcement and a couple of lawyers who would be the mastermind of the crime. The defense of the lawyers says it will prove their innocence. Ometto Pavan and his wife lived in, also inside. He was from a traditional family in the sugar field. His father, Virgílio Pavan, was one of the partners of the Santa Cruz Plant, now São Martinho plant. The surname Ometto is a reference in the national sugar and alcohol sector. Pavan, however, excelled in the machining business, specializing in the provision of Tornearia, manufacturing and selling parts services. He owned the Pura Vida Site, in the Portal da Serra neighborhood of São Pedro. The property, focused on cattle raising and eucalyptus production, was partially leased.
Rosana was the owner and director of Educandário da Criança, traditional kindergarten, located in Vila Santana, Araraquara. She was running the school, which serves nursing students to preschool since the 1990s. The establishment also offers language learning, sports, arts and culture. On the day of his death, the city expressed regret and honored it in a statement, on its official page. “Rosana dedicated her life to education, with love, commitment and a vision that turned generations. Her legacy as an educator, manager and human being will remain alive in the memory of all who had the privilege of learning from her – students, families and the whole school community.” The couple had been living for over 20 years and had a habit of spending weekends at Sítio in São Pedro. Although they were discreet, they were well known in the city.
How was the crime?
On April 6 this year, a Sunday, a neighbor was surprised that the couple’s Fiat Toro pickup was parked in front of the site’s house, but there was no movement on the spot. He went to check and saw the body of the businessman immovable in the cabin. The Military Police were fired and found that the businessman was dead, with two marks of shooting in the chest region. Rosana’s body was found in the vehicle’s bucket, closed with the canvas. She had a bullet wound on the left side of the chest. Expertise indicated execution, but the case was initially investigated as murder. The wallets and cell phones of the victims were taken by the suspects. Soon the investigations pointed to a planned crime and the hypothesis of murder – theft followed by death – was discarded.
Who are the suspects?
The skills and ballistic exams, as well as other evidence gathered during the investigation, led to two suspects of the double murder. Carlos César Lopes de Oliveira, 57, known as ‘Cesão’, and Ednaldo José Vieira, 54, the ‘Indian’, were arrested in São Carlos and Praia Grande. Their arrest, plus the analysis of the content of cell phones and the crossing of information, as well as extensive analysis of processes involving the couple’s assets, led to the principals. The 47-year-old lawyers, 47, and Fernanda Morales Teixeira Barroso, 44, were arrested on Tuesday, 17, in the condominium where they live in São Carlos. They are suspected of commissioning the murders of José Eduardo and Rosana to keep their assets. The State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic) carried out the “double game” operation to arrest the suspects.
What motivated the crime?
According to police, they had worked as lawyers of the couple for over ten years and used devices to appropriate about $ 12 million in properties belonging to the victims. Under the pretext of protecting the assets of the victims, the assets were placed in the name of the lawyers. In addition, the couple of lawyers would have falsified bank slips to charge invented costs, with approximately $ 3 million. Totaling R $ 15 million. Police believe the couple was killed so as not to change the ownership of the goods. They had no son or other heirs. The four – principals and executors – had the temporary arrest decreed for 30 days. The investigated must be responsible for qualified homicide, criminal association, estelionato, ideological falsehood, use of false document and concealment of corpse.
The lawyer of Hercules and Fernanda, Reginaldo da Silveira, says that the evidence is fragile and will prove the innocence of the couple. According to him, there was only a lawyer and client relationship between the parties, where the fees were paid through real estate, not in cash. The Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) reported that the case is accompanied by the subsection of São Carlos and that the Court of Ethics and Discipline (TED) will adopt the appropriate calculation measures.
