Google informed the Federal Supreme Court (18) on Wednesday that it is unable to comply with Minister Alexandre de Moraes’s decision that determined the sending of data on who published a copy of the scam in a public domain on the Internet.
According to the law firm that represents the platform in Brazil, the search provider does not have the data, which, according to the company, are the responsibility of the pages that disclosed the draft.
“Google informs the impossibility of processing the data supply order directed to it, without prejudice that information and data related to publications on third party websites are directly required to its administrators,” the company said.
According to the platform, the search engine is not responsible for hosting third party pages. In addition, Google stated that Moraes did not indicate the content URL hosted or linked to the company’s services.
“Specifically, Google’s search is a free tool that only organizes information, contents already available on the internet, so as to make it more accessible to its users,” the company added.
Data sending was requested by the minister after requesting the defense of Anderson Torres, former Minister of Justice and former Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District. He is one of the defendants of core 1 of the coup plot.

In 2023, a copy of the draft was found at Torres’s house during search and seizure by the Federal Police (PF). According to the investigations, the document would be known to former President Jair Bolsonaro and would serve to decree defense state measures to try to reverse the result of the 2022 elections and prevent the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The defense of Torres seeks to minimize the importance of the draft investigations and maintains that the document is available on the internet.
After receiving the information, the lawyers intend to request an expert to demonstrate that the draft found at the former minister’s house is not related to the document presented by the former president to former commanders of the Armed Forces.
