The total amount applied to aforro certificates increased in May to 37,498 million euros, a new historical maximum, despite the slowdown in the new subscriptions, according to data released Friday by Banco de Portugal ().
In net terms (discounting amortizations to new cash entries) the certificates of aforro increased 475 million euros compared to April (this month there had been subscriptions worth 541 million euros, so the 475 million euros of May mean a slowdown).
May is the eighth consecutive month of rising the global value on aforro certificates, at a time when the Free Set rate (the only one in commercialization) has already dropped from its maximum value (2.5%).
In May, the gross interest rate for new subscriptions of aforro certificates, Series F, had been set at 2.216%.
In June, reflecting Euribor’s descent for three months, the gross interest rate for new subscriptions, Series F, was backwards to be fixed by 2.070%.
Regarding the amount invested in Treasury Certificates, it maintains the fall trend began at the end of 2021, having retreated in May to 8,972 million euros, less than 172 million euros in net terms of April.
