Affiliated to the PDT for about ten years, former presidential Ciro Gomes has been talking to the PSDB, which is interested in their return. In 1990, still in the rows of the party, he was elected governor of Ceará with the support of Tasso Jereissati, predecessor in office and to this day the main toucan chief in the state. It is with Tasso, even, that is the mission of attracting Ciro, who since the acronym departure in 1997 accumulates criticism of the old house. The 67 -year -old politician, four times a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, is quoted as a possible candidate for the State Government next year.
PSDB’s national president, who now studies new directions after the idea of federation with we can crumble, Marconi Perillo says he has endorsed Tasso to intensify conversations.
“I have already authorized Tasso to continue in conversations with him. He will be welcome to the party,” he says.
After the partnership between PDT and PT was broken in Ceará, in 2022, Ciro came to approach the right, even in a center-left party. He even exchanged praise with PL pockets. By 2026, the PSDB intends to walk local in opposition to the PT, which will have Governor Elmano de Freitas as a candidate for reelection.
Ciro himself is considered a possible candidate for the government, but there are other names of his ventilated political group. One of them is the former mayor of Fortaleza Roberto Claudio, who left the PDT this year and migrated to União Brasil.
Bolsonarist stroke
In recent months, in the wake of the fierce opposition to petistas Elmano and Evandro Leitão, mayor of Fortaleza, Cyrus was stroked by pockets. Defeated in the municipal election for less than a percentage point last year, André Fernandes (PL) said at an event in May that “Cyrus proved to be a prepared and intelligent person, with courage also to face Governor Elmano.”

Fernandes reinforced the desire to unify the opposition against the PT next year. Another who was Ciro’s adversary and echoed the speech, also with praise for the still pedestrian and possible toucan, was Captain Wagner (Union), defeated in the state election of 2022 and last year’s municipal.
The crack between PT and PDT in the state took place in 2022, when Ciro decided to launch Roberto Claudio. The petistas were willing to support Governor Izolda Cela, at the time affiliated with the PDT, but the presidential wanted to put someone more linked to himself – Izolda was in the chair after the discompany of the current Minister of Education, Camilo Santana (PT), who would compete for the Senate. The PT then refused to support Claudio and launched Elmano, who won in the first round.
As soon as he left the PSDB in 1997, Ciro began to attack the old caption. He said, by announcing the presidential candidacy in the following year’s election – he would run for the old PPS and be in third place – who refused to talk to President Fernando Henrique Cardoso.

Tasso himself, who has become approached in recent years, has been targeted. In 2016, when analyzing the scenario for 2018, he classified a group of Ceará policy, including Tasso, as a “pick industry”.
Already in 2017, another toucan chief entered the sights: former governor of Minas Gerais Aécio Neves, classified by Ciro as a “political corpse”. The miner is, even today, one of the main toucan paintings, with active performance in party negotiations.
“Died. What is done with the corpse is to bury,” Ciro said at an event in Rio, before mending other criticism of the toucans. “The PSDB will campaign (from the Michel Temer government), hold back the coffin handle of a government that has 3% approval. It will leave it to the eve of the election to go out and have a fair stigma of opportunist.”

Between the PSDB and the PDT, Ciro also went through PPS, PSB and Pros. He ran for president four times, all after ceasing to be a toucan. They were two by the Labor Party and two for the PPS, acronym that became the current citizenship.
