China condemned this “routine cruise” as intentional “provoking problems” and a threat to stability in the region.
Taiwanese armed forces on Friday night recorded 50 military aircraft of mainland China and six military ships. It happened shortly after the Taiwanese Strait was flooded by a patrol ship of the British Royal Navy HMS Spey. According to AFP and Reuters reports, TASR reports this.
On Friday, the Chinese army condemned the cruise of the British military ship and described it as an intentional attempt to “invoke problems” that undermine peace and stability in the region. The British Royal Navy said HMS Spey had done a routine cruise that was planned for a long time.
British ship in the center of attention
Last time, the British Navy’s ship crossed the Taiwanese Strait in 2021, when Fregata HMS Richmond was heading from Japan to Vietnam. Beijing then strongly condemned the cruise and deployed his navy to watch the ship.
Beijing considers Taiwan to be part of its territory. In 1949, after the defeat in the Civil War, the former Chinese government power of Kuomintang led by General Čankaišek and has since had an independent government. Communist China has repeatedly declared that the democratic Taiwan will one day dominate.
For disputes over the island, the government in Beijing describes the Taiwanese Strait as its waters, which objects to Taiwan, the US and their allies who consider it an international maritime route.
