UBS Report (Bank of the Switzerland Union) considers 56 countries; Minister of Lula cites data when defending income reform
Brazil had 433,000 people with equity of over US $ 1 million in 2024 and led the ranking of dollar millionaires in Latin America. In addition, the country is at the top of the inequality list among the main economies.
The data are from a report from (Banco da União da Switzerland, in the acronym in Portuguese). The company considered 56 countries to survey. The full can be accessed in English.
In considering the total number of millionaires, the United States command the ranking. There are 23.8 million people with this assets in 2025, representing 40% of the total in the world.

The inequality rate considers the gini index. The coefficient ranges from 0 to 1. The closer to the maximum number, the greater the disparities of wealth.
Brazil marks a score of 0.82. It is tied with Russia, as shown in the table below:
The Minister of Institutional Relations, cited the reports of the report this Thursday (19.Jun.2025) in defending income reform in Brazil.
“The moment the national debate is about charging taxes of the rich who pay little and applications and companies that have privileges, the Banco UBS report on income distribution in 56 countries is shocking.”wrote in his profile at X.
The President (PT) wants to exempt income tax who receives up to $ 5,000 per month. For this, it will charge an additional tax of some riches for those who receive from $ 600,000 per year.
This is one of the priority projects of the economic team in 2025. They still need approval by the National Congress to start the real.
