Do you hesitate if you finally go into the construction of a greenhouse? “I can no longer imagine the garden without it,” says Jana Bucharová in our podcast. But if you work with your own hands, do not forget a few points where a quiet building can turn into a horror movie.
You can find a podcast clinic not only about the construction of the greenhouse here:
Hidden in the ground or, on the contrary, to show off as a landmark of the garden. It will hold a few bushes of tomatoes and cucumbers or will be so large that it will supply the whole family vegetables for a year and remain for friends. The greenhouse is a great thing. But if you decide to start building, your initial enthusiasm may cool down the price. Where to save is clear – you build it yourself. Well, why not. But this is five fundamental things that you should look at in that case.
It will be to CHEM?
There is no greenhouse like a greenhouse, there are many species and the possibilities of interior equipment even more. In the shed greenhouse, which will be based on the house, there will be more warmth, the greenhouse partially recessed under the ground will require larger landscaping, a large greenhouse in the open area can catch the most light and heat throughout the day. But do you have a place for it? Pay careful planning at least all weekend. Go through the equipment options, write down what you need to prepare and also check that you can really do it yourself.
Almost always without permission
You do not need a building permit and even notification to build a greenhouse. It is just a small building. But you have to follow a few rules. The built -up area of the greenhouse must not exceed 40 m2 and the height must be up to five meters. At the same time, it must not be basement and it is necessary to keep the distance two meters from the neighbor’s fence.
Ideal place
The greenhouse is not just a shelter for plants and its location is essential. He should not stand in drafts, but rather in the lee and in the place where he gets enough sunshine in shorter days. Keep in mind whether you can bring water or electricity to it. If not immediately, for example in a few years, when you find out how much you like to grow warm.
Good foundations
Not every greenhouse necessarily needs a concrete floor, but with a little concreting you have to count in any case. The greenhouse must be anchored in at least every corner of the structure just to the concrete foot.
Without concrete foundations, the building will be finished faster, but the floor has its advantages. It is easier to maintain, weed or pests from the soil and is also better insulated. Remember that bad foundations can later lead to curvature of the structure and perhaps cracking of fillings. It is therefore worth not to spare on them.
Where the light flows
Only in the end it is necessary to think the most visible. What the greenhouse will be built of. If you are not craftsmen, you will probably reach for some “kit” – finished works that will help you put together a greenhouse to your liking. And although the choice of construction is also essential, the choice of fillings in this case will be even more important.
- Ordinary “foil”? It will be the fastest built, especially if you create it yourself. And it’s also the cheapest option. But it has the shortest life and serves more through the season, because in the spring it will not be so warm in it.
- Glass is a classic. In addition, it will penetrate the most light and heat and well built will serve your great -grandchildren. But it is the most expensive and also the most difficult compared to the glass boards. Moreover, the glass itself is not so durable.
- Polycarbonate greenhouses are a bit of a compromise between the two previous types. Somewhat cheaper than glass and more resistant than foil. In addition, they have a light construction, which is handy when building yourself. But remember that polycarbonate does not penetrate so much sunlight, so it is necessary to choose the right place more carefully.
