Botafogo’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup was highly celebrated by John Texor.
Owner of the SAF of the alvinegro club, the American celebrated the 1-0 triumph drinking beers in the VIP area of a Venice Beach bar in Los Angeles, accompanied by friends, family and a replica of the Copa Libertadores Cup, won by the team last year.
“Uh, dad arrived! Uh, dad arrived,” shouted carioca club fans, while interacting and took pictures with the American, who answered, “Thank you.”
For John Texor, the celebration was not just for the big step towards the round of 16. He had fun to see PSG defeated, chaired by Qatarian Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.
The American, who also controls France’s Lyon, has a history of conflicts with al-Khelaïfi. In July 2024, the two had harsh discussion during a meeting on the television rights of the French Championship.
At the time, the PSG leader sent John Textor to shut up. “You’re a cowboy who came I don’t know where and come talking to us,” al-Khelaïfi grunted.
Botafogo’s profile at X (former Twitter) also took advantage of the Brazilian club’s victory to provoke the rival with an ironic publication, written in English. “The American dream! It looks like the cowboy has won.”
The publication had an image of textor dressed cowboy clothes in front of the Hollywood sign.
