The restaurant, in Rio de Janeiro, was elected the 28th best restaurant in the world for the ranking “”, released on Thursday (19.jun.2025). The announcement was made during an event in Turin, Italy.
Last year, the carioca restaurant was 58th on the extended list. Lasai is in an old mansion in the Botafogo neighborhood and is led by chef Rafa Costa e Silva and his wife Malena Cardiel. With 2 Michelin stars, the restaurant offers authorial kitchen prioritizing the use of national ingredients grown in its own gardens and by small producers in Rio de Janeiro. The menu privileges vegetables, but without giving up fresh sea products and noble meat cuts, in a proposal that values seasonality and the natural taste of foods.
The name of the restaurant, which means “quiet” in Euskera – language spoken in the Basque country, where the chef has spent part of his formation – reflects the home’s proposal: to offer a dining excellent experience, with efficient, discreet and food -centered service as a great protagonist. The restaurant is the only Brazilian in the list of the 50 best in the world, headed by Maido, in Lima (Peru).
