O is not a country of fanatics. It was the scene of the 1906 Constitutional Revolution, source of the first parliament in the Muslim world, extinguished by the monarch with the support of Russian troops. He had a nationalist and democratic government of Mossadgh, one of the young leaders of that revolution, between 1951 and 1953, deposed in the coup articulated by CIA and MI6. Islamic fanaticism emerged with the 1979 Revolution-or rather, with the triumph of the Aiatollah’s faction in the turbulent post-revolutionary period. From there was born the goal of exterminating.
The fall of Shah Reza Pahlavi in January 1979 resulted from a broad popular movement led by Islamists, nationalists, democrats and communists. The first president of the New Republic, Abolhassan Banisadr, represented that anti-monarchic alliance. His impeachment in June 1981 signaled the dissolution of the alliance and the establishment of the absolute power of the Shiite clergy under Khomeini. In the Islamic Republic, the official government inhabits the dungeon of the theocratic regime: Ayatola mandates, the president administers.
Two successive blows provided the triumph of the clerical faction. The first, internal: the invasion of the American Embassy in Tehran and the taking of its employees hostage by a student organization controlled by Khomeini in November 1979. The second, external: the country’s invasion of Iraq in September 1980, which broke out an eight -year devastating war. Under the juxtaposed crises, public freedoms were canceled.
Iran is not an Arabic but Persian country. The Ayatollah regime was engaged in the mission of burying the Persian tradition, rooting its legitimacy in the soil of Islam. Islamic fundamentalism functioned as a tool for projection of influence in the Arab world. Therefore, the clerical state is based on hostility to the US (the “great Satan”) and Israel (the “little Satan”). Anti -Semitism and its corollary, the denial of the Holocaust, sculpts the speech of Ayatollah. From nation, Iran became a crusade.
In this frame, the issue, expensive to the Arabs but not to the Persians, emerges as a strategic pretext of the regime. The invocation of Palestinian National Law nourished Iran’s foreign policy, opening it the way for a network of alliances in the Arab world: the “axis of resistance” involved the Syria of Assad, the Shiite in Lebanon and the Sunni in Palestinian territories.
Exterminate Israel – and the geopolitical goal defined by Iran of the Ayatollahs. In fact, a nuclear Iran would threaten the survival of the Jewish state. Therefore, the attack on Iran expresses a social consensus in Israel and the Jewish diaspora. The war in Gaza, brutal and criminal, divides the Israelis, even after Hamas’s attacks. But the outbreak of a decisive confrontation with the Iranian regime unifies all relevant political currents in Israel.
The official objective of the attack on Iran, destroying the country’s nuclear program, depends on the US anti-Bunker megabombas. However, it can be achieved through the unofficial objective: the fall of the Ayatollah regime. The former Iranian national flag, replaced after the 1979 revolution but still used by the Iranian communities in exile, displays the Persian lion in front of the rising sun. Israel baptized its military operation as Rising Lion, Rising Lion.
