Another balloon with 35 people fell in rural Capela do Alto, in the interior of São Paulo, on Sunday (15.jun)
This Saturday (21.jun.2025) in Santa Catarina was the 2nd registered in a week in the country. On Sunday (15.Jun), a manned balloon with 35 people fell in a rural area of Capela do Alto, in the interior of São Paulo. One woman died and 11 others were rescued with minor injuries.
In an interview with TV GloboGustavo Scapara, one of the survivors, said the pilot tried to land the balloon in an orange. Before stopping, there were beats, causing some people to be thrown out. Then the pilot tried to make new landing, which caused the injuries.
The balloon basket hit at least twice on the ground. Juliana Alves Prado Pereira was on the walk with her husband Leandro de Aquino Pereira. She was referred to the hospital, but could not resist and died. The tour was to celebrate Valentine’s Day. She was from Pouso Alegre, from Minas Gerais.
Identified as Fabio Salvador Pereira, the balloon pilot was arrested in the act for aggravated guilty murder and irregular ballooning activity. He had irregular documentation and had only license for private flights. Pereira stated that an unexpected gust of wind caused the accident. He worked for the company.
