France President Emmanuel Macron (Renaissance, Center) talked by telephone with Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, on Saturday (21.jun.2025). He stated that during the connection, he expressed deep concern about the country’s nuclear program.
The French leader also said he is convinced that there is a way to end war and avoid even greater dangers. According to him, Iran should never acquire nuclear weapons.
“I expressed my deep concern for the Iranian nuclear program. Here, again, my position is clear: Iran should never acquire nuclear weapons, and it is up to Iran to provide full guarantees that their intentions are peaceful.”said the president of France in no X. “For this, we will accelerate the negotiations led by France and its European partners with Iran”He added.
Macron said he also advocated the release of the French couple Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, who have been arrested in Iran since May 2022 on charges of espionage. “Your inhuman detention is unfair. I hope they return to France”said the president of France.
Nuclear program
