For 30 years, Brazil fell in love with a yellow Brasilia. On June 23, 1995, the album was released in the country “Killer Mamonas”from the homonymous band formed by five young people from Guarulhos.
With shows crowded across the country and more than 3 million copies of the album sold, the band had an infallible mix of mocking letters, colorful and unmolded costumes and a lot of charisma.
With verses like “My yellow Brasilia / ‘Tá do doors open / to the mocl of us to love / naked in Santos ”,“ naked in Santos ”became a hit and was one of the most executed songs on the radios in 1995, alongside“ Vira Vira ”, with a faded and full of sexual references.
Had been formed months earlier by a class of boys from Greater São Paulo. Alecsander Alves Leite, Dinho, made vocals and guitar; Bento Hinoto, support vocals and guitar; Samuel Reoli, support and bass vocals; Júlio Rasec, Support Vocals and Keyboards; and Sérgio Reoli, support vocals and drums.
Early end and legacy 30 years later
The group’s trajectory was short, to the sadness of the millions of fans. In March 1996, after a presentation in Brasilia, the board members embarked on a jet on their way to Guarulhos. During the flight, with the Serra da Cantareira, killing everyone on board. The early death of the band members moved Brazil.
Thirty years after the album’s release, however, it is possible to realize that the band’s legacy remains.
According to data sent exclusively by Spotify to CNN, track playback numbers are impressive: “Naked in Santos” has over 57 million reproductions, followed by “Robocop Gay” and “Vira Vira”, both with 47 million.

What is the secret of success so long after? “My son was a cheerful young man, that joy of his captivated all these wonderful people. They were happy boys, they were a grown children,” says Célia Alves, Dinho’s mother, in an interview with CNN.
Now, Celia launches the book “Going Beyond Pain” (Editora Betel), in which she tells the intimate side next to her son, in honor of the band’s 30th anniversary.
“To this day I find teenagers who had not even been born at the time of his success, but the success that went from parents to children,” says the singer’s mother.
Celia explains that, at the time of the accident, her daughter Grace, Dinho’s sister, was pregnant and the singer was excited to be uncle and was already plans with the child. In June of that year, Alecsandra was born, baptized in honor of the deceased uncle three months earlier.
“He turned twenty -nine [do acidente]But the pain continues, the pain continues, we are living one day at a time. There are days when longing hits hard. We cry, right? But we have to get up on, ”says Celia.
