The Government of Acre executes a project funded by the Amazon Fund to reduce deforestation and illegal burning in the state. The initiative, called “Towards illegal deforestation zero in the state of Acre”, was the first state project approved after the fund resumed in 2023.

The contract, signed with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), provides for total investments of R $ 97,814,173.00, with an execution period of 48 months.
The first release of funds occurred in July 2024, in the amount of R $ 21,410,888.00, which allowed the start of services and equipment purchases. A second installment, in the amount of R $ 26,472,545.00, was released after the election period.
The Secretariat of State for Planning (Seplan) is responsible for the general coordination of the project, which has as its subexecutors to Sema, IMAC, Iteracre, IMC, CBMAC, BPA, Sejusp, Seagri and Sepi.
The project operates in five axes: monitoring and control; territorial planning; Sustainable production; Emissions inventory and greenhouse gas removal; and management structure.
The largest volume of resources is allocated to monitoring and control actions, with R $ 49,289,163.00. Among the products are: Strengthening the fight against burning and forest fires by CBMAC, with R $ 21,715,400.00, including purchase of equipment and inputs for five regional; Reinforcement to air and border patrols (Ciopaer and Gefron), with R $ 8,434,000.00, through Sejusp; Implementation of environmental policing platoons in interior regions, in addition to the restructuring of BPA in Rio Branco and Cruzeiro do Sul (R $ 7,750,563.00); Integration of Monitoring and Inspection Systems (SEMA), with R $ 6,377,640.00; Automation of the Environmental Infringement Calculation System in IMAC (R $ 2,197,200.00); Digital Platform for Management of State Conservation Units (SEMA), with R $ 2,814,360.00.
The territorial planning axis concentrates R $ 23,655,010.00. The main actions include: Geocadro of approximately 7,000 properties in interior regions (iteracre), with R $ 8,454,800.00; Modernization of the State Land Database (Iteracre), with R $ 4,647,600.00; Modernization of the Environmental Licensing System of Forest Activities (IMAC), with R $ 3,971,070.00; Update of Indigenous Land Surveillance Plans (SEPI), with R $ 3,800,200.00; Integration of Ecological-Economic Zoning (Vivo Zee) with other state platforms, under the responsibility of SEMA, with R $ 2,781,340.00.

In the area of sustainable production, investments total R $ 17,790,000.00. Seagri coordinates the elaboration and implementation of the projects of recomposition of degraded and altered areas (Paddas), with R $ 17,290,000.00, in six settlements. Another R $ 500,000.00 is intended for the monitoring of the Paddas by Sema.
IMC is responsible for updating emissions inventory and greenhouse gas removal (IGEE), with a value of R $ 1,500,000.00. The goal is to update the data for the base period from 2018 to 2022, aiming to subsidize future actions of mitigation and capture of carbon credits.
SEPLAN executed R $ 5,580,000.00 for the hiring of the Project Management Unit (UGP), which will be responsible for the coordination, execution, monitoring, evaluation and accountability of the project with BNDES. Contractors and audits are foreseen.
Through State Decree No. 11,468, of May 2, 2024, the Management and Coordination System (SGC) was established, composed by the Project Management Committee (CGP) and the Transitional Operational Group (GOT), with representatives of Seplan and the executing bodies.
Acre had already signed a contract with the Amazon Fund in 2012, and the first state was to obtain project approval. The activities were interrupted for four years and resumed in 2024, focusing on integrated actions to combat illegal deforestation, land regularization, territorial surveillance and sustainable development.
According to the Secretary of Planning, Ricardo Brandão, the execution of resources is still aligned with the Plan for Prevention and Control of Deforestation and Acre Burns (PPCDQ/Acre) and responds to recent environmental emergencies.
