In the petition, UGT says that health insurance operators have committed abusive practices and impaired millions of workers. It also accuses ANS of omission to oversee and curb such attitudes.

In the petition, the entity also points out that ANS directors maintain bonds with the regulated sector.
“ANS has been complacent with predatory practices that violate fundamental workers’ rights. While the agency omits, millions of Brazilians are harmed by abusive and negative coverage adjustments. It is inadmissible that the body responsible for protecting consumers allows such exploitation,” says Ricardo Patah, president of UGT.
In a note to the panel, ANS said it does not comment on lawsuits in progress and stressed that it has supervised the operators rigorously.
The agency reported that there is no readjustment percentage for collective plans, but companies must follow rules such as communication of the applied and information index in the ticket.
Regarding contract terminations, ANS says they are possible in accordance with the legislation.
“It is important to mention that ANS seeks to balance the sector permanently, acting so that in the health market supplementary consumers have guaranteed everything that has been hired, operators are economically healthy and providers offer efficient and quality services to patients,” the agency says.
