He says he will immediately start, in case of victory, conversations with leaders of center parties in states where there is proximity to the Lula administration.
“Not getting alliances nationally, we look at the states. I want to start the day after my victory to talk to parties and leaders who were with President Lula in the second round of the 2022 campaign,” says Edinho.
He belongs to the majority current building a new Brazil, and in this condition, is a favorite frank to be elected by the vote of affiliates in July. He would take office in August, with a central role in the sewing of alliances for Lula’s reelection.
The evaluation of the petistas is that it is virtually impossible to have formal support of the five center parties today installed in the government: MDB, PSD, PP, União Brasil and Republicans.
And for this the PT has allies in these subtitles in various regions. “We have to look state by state and see what it takes to close alliances,” says Edinho.
Lula’s likely coalition should be restricted to parties historically aligned with the president, such as PSB, PC do B, PV, PSOL, Network and PDT. They will be sought by Edinho still in the second semester.
According to Edinho, the current government is “strong, with a lot of initiative”, and the biggest challenge “has a lot to show to the population, it is necessary to intensify the comparison between the situation now and before 2023. The PT has to get stronger in this debate,” he says.
