Sunburn – what is it and how is it created?
Sun rays affect the production of vitamin D, improve mood and add energy. However, excessive or unprotected exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UV) can lead to painful and dangerous sunburn.
The sunburn is a sharp, local inflammatory reaction of the skin, which is a direct consequence of its excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The most commonly responsible for them is UVB radiation, emitted by both the sun and artificial sources, such as lamps in solariums.
This condition is characterized by a number of unpleasant symptoms, such as redness (erythema), hot and baking, touch soreness, and in more severe cases can lead to swelling and blisters filled with serous fluid.
Homemade methods for sunburn
Although light burns usually heal spontaneously, the accompanying discomfort can effectively spoil the holiday rest. In such situations, proven, home methods come to the rescue.
When as a child I sat in the sun for too long on a hot day, redness and blisters were formed on my skin. My grandmother had a perfect way so that I could quickly forget about pain and go back to fun. Its effective method was the natural kefir compresses, which she always had in the fridge.
Grandmother soaked a gauze or cloth in a cold kefir, and then the prepared compress applied a place on me. The relief came very quickly. It was enough for only ten minutes to make the pain definitely less felt.
You can also gently (without rubbing) apply a thin layer of kefir directly to the skin, but you have to remember to rinse it with lukewarm water later.
Why is kefir the best for burns?
Cold kefir is perfect. Why? First of all, if it is chilled, its low temperature brings immediate relief, reducing the burning and hot feeling, which accompanies irritated skin. It shrinks blood vessels, reduces swelling and redness.
Secondly, Kefir contains lactic acid, which has strongly moisturizing and regenerating properties and helps maintain the appropriate pH of the skin. Kefir is also a source of probiotics soothing inflammation, and the proteins and vitamins it contains nourish the skin and accelerate the healing process.
How to protect yourself against sunburn?
It is worth remembering that the most effective is consistent prevention. It is worth avoiding excessive sun exposure (especially from 10:00 to 14:00), and also use. Filters should be applied to all exposed parts of the body, as well as renewed applications every 2-3 hours and after each bath, sinking or wiped with a towel.
