Gaucho de Santo Ângelo, the Minister of the Federal Court of Auditors has had an agenda full of commitments to his state of origin.
In the political environment and among members of the Court, the assessment is that he prepares his return to politics next year, with a candidacy for governor, senator or federal deputy. Before arriving at TCU, in 2005, Nardes was federal, state deputy and councilor in Rio Grande do Sul.
In contact with the panel, the minister denies the electoral claims and in October 2027, when he turns 75.
Since early May, there have been 36 agendas or meetings linked to the state, according to commitments that the minister lists on his social networks, since he does not disclose his schedule on the TCU site.
Nardes has gone weekly to municipalities in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, often honoring local fairs.
Recent examples were his visit to Joanpepa, in Marcelino Ramos, Fenamilho, in Santo Angelo, Exposol, Soledade, and Expofeira, on May Três de Maio. He also met politicians from cities such as Santana do Livramento, Viaducts, Rio dos Índios and Dona Francisca, among others.
A theme to which he has dedicated himself is to help with gaucho farmers,
On June 11, during court session, he even cried when dealing with the subject. “Help gauchos, give us a deadline, no one wants anything for free. These people are ashamed in their face and are killing themselves,” he said.
In a note to the panel, Nardes stated that he is dedicated to various topics and mentioned that since early May he has also had 23 not linked agendas to his state of origin. Among them, meetings to deal with education on June 3 and 6, lectures on governance in Brasilia and trips to Portugal and Albania representing the TCU.
“I come from Rio Grande do Sul. As a public person, I receive councilors, mayors, state and federal deputies, senators, ministers of state, leaders, lawyers, students and journalists, among many others,” he said.
The number of gaucho agendas, according to him, is due to the fact that he is a rapporteur of the process that deals with the resources destined for the Civil Defense of the program recovers Rio Grande do Sul.
“In all my reports or audits I usually look for as many information and elements with people affected or places to make a look as close as possible to reality,” he added.
