Politico: Πολιτική κρίση για τη φον ντερ Λάιεν λόγω ακροδεξιού «φλερτ» με φόντο το greenwashing

Faced with the biggest challenge in its power, it is, as political groups, as it reports, threaten to withdraw their support for its decision to withdraw laws in favor of the climate.

“We are on the brink of an institutional crisis,” said Valerie Hanger, head of the Liberal Group Renew Europe.

The von der Lien comes from the European People’s Party (EPP), the center -right faction that, though larger in the European Parliament, is based on the votes of the Socialists and the Liberals to pass on. If these groups cease to cooperate, the ability of the Commission to propose European legislation is in danger of paralyzing.

On Friday, the Commission announced that it withdraws the Green Claims Directive-a landmark bill that would make companies underulently for unfounded environmental allegations (“Greenwashing”)-although the legislation had already gone through many stages of the process.

This move was welcomed by the right and right -wing European Parliament, such as European Conservatives and Reformers and the far -right “Patriots for Europe” team by Marin Lepen and Victor Orban.

“If the Commission withdraws the bill, we at Renew consider it to be an act that seriously undermines the platform of the pro -European majority,” Hagger said.

They accuse her of being allied with the far -right

The Socialists and the Liberals accuse von der Layen of being allied with the far -right – calling for the “green agreement” to be abandoned as a whole – and ignoring the will of the political groups that elected it.

Although there are no official government alliances in the European Parliament, the EPP, the Socialists and the Liberals are the traditional pro -European majority and had signed a cooperation agreement in November.

However, the EPP has repeatedly been drafted with right and far -right groups of parliament to promote measures, form the agenda or reject environmental plans. This was also the case this week, when a report on funding for development projects, two bills on artificial intelligence and patents, and created a new body to control NGO funding.

‘We will stop protecting her’

The withdrawal of the “Greenwashing” directive may be the turning point for the Socialists and the Liberals, who had already been disturbed by von der Layen’s actions – in which the EU court sentenced the Commission because it refused to publicize the President of the President.

“In the case of Pfizergate, we covered it. If it continues, we will stop covering it, “a high -ranking Renew official said. The Socialists and the Liberals can “stop playing the game and consent”, essentially blocking the EU’s legislative function, he added.

The Socialist official said the situation leads to a challenge of von der Laien’s support herself. “The Commission should understand the importance of its alliance and its commitments,” said Irace Garcia, president of the Socialist and Democratic Group (S&D).
