The city of welcomed 4,810 immigrants from 90 countries between January and May this year, according to data from Ricardo Nunes (MDB) management. Of these, 2,555, or 53%, are from Angola.
The data were compiled by the Secretariat of Social Assistance and Development, which referred immigrants to the city’s reception centers.
After the Angolans, the city received 570 Venezuelans, 255 Moroccans, 250 Bolivians, 216 Congolese, 132 Afghans, 131 Colombians, 59 Haitians, 58 Argentines, 51 Paraguayans, 48 Peruvians, 47 Tunisians and 46 South Africans.
Following the list brings together immigrants from Chile (26), Cuba (25), Portugal (23) and Guinea (20).
It is also noteworthy that, among those welcomed, there are immigrants from countries with high quality of life indicators, such as Japan (6), Germany (5), Spain (5), France (5), England (2), Poland (1), Norway (1), Romênia (1) and Sweden (1).
