Chinese archaeologists have discovered three 1,800-year-old graves in Rizhao, during redevelopment works on a local park. One of these is in an exceptional state of preservation and contained over 70 ancient objects.
The tombs date from the Han dynasty, which led China between 206 BC. and 220 AD, and were discovered during some redevelopment works on a local park, about 600 kilometers from Beijing.
Among the artifacts brought to light are bronze mirrors, ceramic pots, lacquered boxes, wood containers and drinking cups. Also, archaeologists discovered combs, bamboo hair, copper seals, chiliges, iron swords and other objects, notes Noi.md with reference to.
The researchers discovered that the coffins were placed in rooms with doors and windows, connected by corridors, a sign that the tombs were built according to a well thought out plan.
One of the seals found bears the name “Huan Jia”, and two of the tombs contain inscriptions of the same family name, “Huan”, which made the researchers believe that the place would have been a family cemetery.
