A flight from Air India airline had to take an emergency landing on Saturday (21) after a bomb threat aboard the aircraft. The plane, which departed from Birmingham, in the UK, had as its final destination the city of New Delhi, India, but was diverted to Riade, capital of Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely.
Saudi authorities have done promptly after being informed of the threat, ensuring the safety of passengers and crew. In an official statement, Air India reported that all security procedures were adopted and that there were no injuries. The company also said it was organizing alternative solutions to bring passengers to their original destination.

According to a spokesman heard by the British newspaper The Mirrorthe aircraft operated the flight AI114 when it was communicated from the threat along the way. The company did not disclose details about the source of the threat, but stressed that the deviation measure was taken by precaution.
The case happens two weeks after a serious accident involving the same company. On June 12, a Boeing 787 fell seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad to London, resulting in the deaths of at least 279 people – the worst air disaster in the world since 2014.
In response to the tragedy, India’s civil aviation authority determined the inspection of all aircraft of the same model and Air India suspended flights to cities such as London, Paris and Dubai. Investigations on the accident remain in progress.
