Rises to 4 the number of killed per rain in RS

Number of affected municipalities increases and now there are 127; There are 1,071 homeless people and 5,858 are displaced, according to the Civil Defense

The Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul on Sunday (22.Jun.2025) that the number of dead because of rains in the state reached 4. There is still a person who is still missing and one who was injured.

The number of municipalities affected also rose. Now 127. Jaguari is the only one in a state of public calamity, while 21 have emergency decree. The information is included in a newsletter with updated information until 18h.

Below are the list of municipalities with emergency decree:

  • Dona Francisca;
  • White Cerro;
  • Sharp;
  • New Palm;
  • South Cruise;
  • Passes seven;
  • St. Sebastian of Caí;
  • Cacequi;
  • South Rosary;
  • Tupanciretã;
  • New Santa Rita;
  • St. Francis of Assisi;
  • Liberato Salzano;
  • Amaral Ferrador;
  • Toropi;
  • Montenegro;
  • Silveira Martins;
  • São Vicente do Sul;
  • Julius de Castilhos;
  • Southern Paradise; and
  • Dilermando de Aguiar.

According to the agency, there are 1,071 homeless people (who are in shelters). Rio Grande do Sul has 41 shelters in 24 cities, according to. Another 5,858 are homeless (in the house of family or friends). In total, 733 people and 139 animals were rescued.

River level

According to the bulletin, 6 rivers are in a flood quota. They are:

  • Uruguay (São Borja to Uruguaiana) – trend of slow elevation;
  • Ibirapuitã (Alegrete) – Trend of slow declinewith levels still in flood in the coming days;
  • Ibicuí (Manoel Viana) – Trend of stabilitywith levels still in flood in the coming days;
  • Jacuí (Cachoeira do Sul to Delta do Jacuí) – Constant decline in Cachoeira do Sul and stability in São Jerônimo and the islands region;
  • Islands of the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre – Trend of stability and to maintain high levels in the coming days; and
  • Bells (Campo Bom and São Leopoldo) – trend of slow decline in Campo Bom and stability in São Leopoldo.

Guaíba is in alert quota. “The tendency of stability and maintaining high levels over the next few days is not expected to reach the flood quota of the Mauá pier or gasometer.”it says.

Here are the situation of other rivers:

  • Returning to normal:
    • Taquari (Santa Tereza to Bom Retiro do Sul);
    • Quaraí; and
    • Dona Francisca.
  • in attention quota:
    • Taquari (Porto Mariante);
    • Caí (Nova Palmira and the Costa do Rio Cada); and
    • Santa Maria (Rosario do Sul and Dom Pedrito).
  • in warning quota:
    • Caí (São Sebastião do Caí and Montenegro);
    • Guaíba;
    • Gravataí (Gravataí and Alvorada);
    • Taquari (Taquari); and
    • Paranhana (Taquara).
