Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares announced on Monday in Brussels that he would propose an immediate suspension of an agreement that regulates the relations between the EU and Israel at the European Union Council meeting. TASR reports this based on Reuters report.
The head of Spanish diplomacy announced that he would also request an embargo approval for the sale of weapons to Israel and the imposition of sanctions on persons who endanger the efforts of the two-state solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He justified the decision with the steps of Israel in the Gaza Strip.
Foreign Ministers at the EU Council Monday will deal with a possible re -evaluation of the Association Agreement between twenty -seven and Israel. EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas will present an internal report to assess whether Israel continues to meet its conditions. The agreement is based on the observance of human rights, which, according to DPA, the report questioning the report, in particular in connection with the blockade of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Israel has limited the approach of the aid on the grounds that it benefits the Palestinian Hamas movement.
