Brazilian tourist died who expected rescue in volcano in Indonesia

Juliana Marins, a young Brazilian who was traveling around Asia, lost her life after falling about 500 meters during a walk at the Rinjani volcano in Indonesia. He had been missing since Saturday and was waiting for rescue for three days, having been located lifeless this Tuesday.

The information was confirmed by the family through social networks, with an emotional note: “With immense sadness, we inform you that she did not resist.” Later, Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially confirmed the death after harsh criticism of the delay in rescue operation.

According to the Brazilian government statement, the operation was hampered by adverse weather conditions, as well as the unstable terrain and little visibility. “The Brazilian Embassy in Jakarta mobilized local authorities, at the highest level, for the rescue task and has followed the search since Friday night,” reads the official note.

The accident occurred while Juliana was walking with a group of five and a guide. Feeling exhausted, he decided to stop. From that moment, it will have been alone. According to his sister’s report, he was not accompanied by anyone until the time of the fall.

Juliana was spotted hours later by tourists who flying over the area with a drone, allowing her location. The young woman had been traveling through Asia since February, having already visited countries such as the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand before arriving in Indonesia.
