Report maintains that the two texts were not produced together, as they have ‘independent content and language’
The defense of the former Minister of Justice presented on Monday (23) to (STF) a report of private expertise that points to differences between the “draft of the coup” found in his residence and the similar document located on Lieutenant Colonel’s mobile phone, former assistant of orders of Jair Bolsonaro. The report, prepared by experts hired with authorization from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case in the Supreme Court, maintains that the two texts were not produced together, as they have “independent content and language”. The purpose of the defense is to weaken the thesis that Torres actively participated in the articulation of the alleged attempt of coup.
According to the report, the draft attributed to Mauro Cid mentions the decree of state of siege, the guarantee of law and order (GLO) and the arrest of authorities. On the other hand, the document found with Anderson Torres is described as simpler. The expertise of the defense also states that the text of Torres has no signature or metadata, being similar to a text available publicly on the internet on a legal site, for example. Additionally, an audiovisual expertise attached to the report concluded that the former minister did not read the draft content during a live broadcast in 2021, contesting one of the Federal Police’s lines of investigation. With the document, the defense of Torres seeks to reinforce the thesis that he had no involvement in the elaboration of the coup plot. The material will be analyzed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes under the criminal proceedings.
