But, above all, it is a strategic necessity, says José Vicente de los Mozos, CEO of the Spanish multinational Indra (São Paulo, Brazil, 63 years) and one of the speakers of the forum “Europe has to continue evolving in its strategic sovereignty. Indra, one of the main companies in the technological sector and also in the defense and security, in the heat of the convulsive geopolitical context in which Europe plans to shoot the expense in defense and reinforce its strategic autonomy. And the company wants to play a leadership role, also in Europe, where Spain is still in the background with respect to countries such as Italy, France or Germany.
“Today the European Defense Industry is not prepared to allocate that 5%. If we want it to be autonomous we need a transition period in the coming years and evolve in the capabilities. It will be done through European programs where we work together on the same product, where we make the purchase synergy. And for that we need to push in the same direction,” he says.
One of the problems of this great European reindustrialization is the stigma that weighs on the military sector. Of the young men, aware of this, he prefers to talk about security industry. “Citizens must be aware of the importance of having a deterrence of deterrence.
