Iranian state media announced on Tuesday (24), local time, that the ceasefire agreement was “imposed on the enemy” after the country’s military response to “US aggression,” hours after Iran’s retaliatory attacks against a Qatar American base.
“Successful Surpah missile operations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard) in response to US aggression and the exemplary firmness and unity of our dear people in defense of our land imposed a ceasefire for the enemy,” an anchor of the state-owned national news network said in a live broadcast.
The anchor did not say when the ceasefire would occur. US President Donald Trump requested the ceasefire between Iran and Israel “as well as” shortly after the attacks of the American Iran of Al Udeid in Qatar, the anchor said.
“Last night, just one hour after the successful attack on the American Sepah missiles to the American base of Al Udeid, in Qatar, in a gesture of supplication, Trump requested the beginning of a ceasefire in the Zionist war imposed against our country,” said the presenter.
Trump’s announcement
On Monday (23), US President Donald Trump announced a “full and total” ceasefire between Israel and Iran, with the purpose of ending the conflict between the two nations.
In a publication on the Social Truth, the American leader congratulated the countries and said he expects ceasefire to become permanent.
“It was totally agreed between Israel and Iran that there will be a complete and total ceasefire (in about 6 hours from now on, when Israel and Iran have closed and completed their final missions in progress!),” The president wrote on social networks.
The publication was made around 19h, in Brasilia, indicating that the ceasefire should start at 1am this Tuesday (24).
“This is a war that could have lasted years and destroyed the whole Middle East, but has not destroyed and will never destroy!” Trump concluded.
