Braga Netto said Cid lied in his statement and only received the military because they were friends of the former Bolsonaro orders.
In the case involving Anderson Torres, his defense questions statements from the former Army commander about participation in meetings to deal with the coup plot.
Freire Gomes said the former minister was in meetings with the heads of the Armed Forces to give legal explanations about the coup decree minutes circulating through the Dawn Palace in 2022.
“Who attended some meetings with the presence of the then Justice Minister Anderson Torres; that at the meetings Anderson Torres explaining legal support for the measures that could be adopted,” says the military testimony.
Last month, as a witness to the process, Freire Gomes said that he recalls that Torres participated in “only one or two” meetings with former commanders at the time. “He never interfered, never came to me particularly, and even at meetings, he did not opine on this subject, which I remember,” he said.
Anderson Torres’s defense denies. As proof that the two were not together, lawyer Eumar Novacki intends to take the entry and exit records of the palace of the Alvorada to argue that Freire Gomes’s version is fake.
