Despite negative reactions within the PL and even business community about the possible candidacy of the Santa Catarina Senate next year ,.
The goal is to transfer to the state of the southern the electoral domicile of the son, today councilor in Rio de Janeiro. The idea, which has the former president’s endorsement, is part of the strategy to elect a numerous Senate Bolsonarist bench in 2026.
The PL believes it could elect the two senators: in addition to Carlos, the other vacancy would probably be with federal deputy Carol de Toni.
Carlos’s transfer, however, has already generated noise on the right of Santa Catarina. One of the contradicted is federal deputy Julia Zanatta (PL-SC), who planned to launch herself to the Senate.
There were also complaints from Fiesc (Federation of Industries of Santa Catarina), which said no need to “import” politicians from other places.
