Poland plans strategic changes in military legislation, including withdrawal from the Ottawan Convention. According to Tuska, Poland must use every available way to increase its defenses.

Polish Sejm on Tuesday began negotiations during which it discusses the government bill on the termination of the Ottawa Convention prohibiting the use of anti -free mines. Informs Warsaw Newsletter TASR.

The government’s proposal envisages withdrawal from a commitment that prevents Poland from using, production, storage and transmission of anti -mitum mines. This is an international agreement signed by Poland in 1997 and ratified in 2012. The Convention also imposes an obligation to destroy existing Mine reserves.

The Cabinet justifies the submission of this proposal by the current security needs of the State. “We will use every available way to increase our defenses,” Tusk said in this context in March. The withdrawal from the agreement has already been approved by the Baltic States and Finland. The reason is the military threat of neighboring Russia and Belarus.

Sejm also deals with an amendment to the Defense Act of Defense, which aims to streamline the recruitment process to the army and manage the personnel resources of the armed forces. The changes also apply to the field of financing of military technology purchases. The amendment allows the establishment of bank accounts in the central banks of countries that supply equipment to Poland.

In addition, MEPs are discussing proposals to enable faster construction of military infrastructure, including the Eastern Shield or ammunition factories project. The proposals are part of the wider government package of legislative changes aimed at strengthening Poland’s defense capacities.
