Qatar closed the airspace on Monday (23) after Iran attacked the largest military base in the United States in the Middle East
The civil aviation authority announced on Tuesday (24), if Monday (23) in Brasilia time, the reopening of airspace after taking “the necessary precautionary measures” in the face of the attack, which whose missiles were almost fully intercepted in “the general civil aviation authority announces the resumption of air traffic in Qatar airspace and the return to normal measures in the competent authorities”, declared the agency in a statement released on social networks. The Armed Forces of Qatar detailed after the Iranian attack that their air defenses were able to shoot down almost all projectiles, half of them before they arrived at the Qatar territory-except one, which fell into the Al-Eudid Air Base without causing any damage or victim.
In the note, the entity praised the “great cooperation” of all partners in the sector and the efforts of state agencies “to ensure air safety in the Airspace of Qatar”. Shortly before the attack, the Arab Foreign Ministry announced the “temporary” suspension of air traffic in the country to “ensure the safety of citizens, residents and visitors”. Other countries, such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Dubai and Iraq’s airports, announced similar measures after the Iranian attack, although all governments except Baghdad reopened their airspace shortly after the missile attack.
This action also led to the cancellation, suspension or diversion of various flights from Middle Eastern airlines, such as qatar Airlines, Egyptair and Etihad Airways, but operations are gradually returning to normal.
