Maryam Rajavi, elected president of the Iran National Resistance Council, spoke a day after the last heir to the Iranian monarchy asked Western countries to accept that the “change of regime” is necessary to bring lasting peace and regional stability.
“The proposal of a ceasefire and the end of the war is one step further to the third option: neither war nor appeasement,” Rajavi said in a statement. “May the people of Iran themselves, in the battle of destiny, knock down Khamenei and the dictatorship.”
She added: “We sought a democratic rather than nuclear republic, with the separation between religion and state, gender equality and also autonomy for the nationalities of Iran.”
